Foundation Strategy

Patient and care partner education and engagement leads to better health outcomes through specialist care, use of new treatments and increased participation in clinical research. The Parkinson's Disease Education Consortium (PDEC) is an alliance of biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms that supports The Michael J. Fox Foundation's commitment to providing high-quality education resources for the Parkinson's community.

While the generous support of our consortium members makes our educational programs possible, their donations do not influence MJFF content, perspective or panelist selection.

Key Deliverables and Results

Support generated from the PDEC enables MJFF’s evergreen educational resources that are distributed to PD patients, physicians and care givers throughout the year. These include:

  • Third Thursday Webinars: Monthly interactive online events with patient, care giver, clinician and researcher panelists discussing and answering questions on a Parkinson's care or research topic.
  • MJFF Podcasts: Parkinson’s experts delve into a research question or issue.
  • Ask the MD Series: MJFF’s on-staff movement disorder specialist discusses popular Parkinson’s topics.
  • Focused Guides: Some PDEC-sponsored examples from the last few years include the Trial Participant Pack and Parkinson's 360
  • MJFF website content: Curated information on our website focused on understanding Parkinson’s and navigating one’s journey with disease.

This ‘gold standard’ content is critical to helping our community feel empowered and informed to take their experience with PD into their own hands and address topics of most importance to them.

Collaboration Benefits

PDEC members receive the following sponsorship benefits:

  • Participation in that year’s consortium updates and annual PDEC Partner Summit where members garner insights on building successful marketing campaigns for a PD audience and key topics and themes that resonate most with the community – which can be used to inform partners’ own audience development and community engagement activities.
  • Access to advanced features on MJFF’s Fox Trial Finder platform for trial recruitment.
  • Public acknowledgment in multiple forums throughout each year to MJFF’s audience, which is the largest in the Parkinson’s disease space made up of patients, families, supporters, providers, and researchers.

We provide multiple levels of sponsorship opportunities to join the Parkinson’s Disease Education Consortium. Email to learn more about the consortium and collaboration benefits.
