Podcast: Sleep Disturbances in Parkinson's

Most people living with Parkinson's disease (PD) have experienced problems with sleep. While this is a common symptom, there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. There are a wide variety of sleep issues in Parkinson's and each needs to be addressed in its own specific way.

In this podcast, Carlos Singer, MD, professor of neurology and director of the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Division at the University of Miami, talks about understanding and treating PD sleep disturbances.

"You need to individualize the care," says Dr. Singer. "You need to try and understand the mechanism by which something is happening. And you have to approach things with a very open mind, not being very dogmatic, because sleep is so varied."
