Alejandro Iranzo graduated in Medicine and Neurology and defended his PhD thesis at the Universidad de Barcelona, Spain. Presently, he is neurologist consultant at the Multidisciplinary Sleep Unit of the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona. He is investigator of Institute D' Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi iSunyer and CIBERNED. He is a member of national and international societies in Neurology, Sleep, REM sleep behavior disorder and Restless Leg Syndrome, and he is currently secretary of the International REM sleep behavior disorder group, treasurer of the Sleep Spanish Society, and assistant treasurer of the World Association of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Iranzo is widely published as both first and corresponding author in peer reviewed journals such as The Lancet, The Lancet Neurology, Annals of Neurology, Neurology, Movement Disorders, Sleep, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Iranzo’s research is focused on sleep in neurological diseases including Parkinson’s disease, REM sleep behavior disorder, narcolepsy and restless legs syndrome.
