Angelika Richter is Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, a position she has held since 2002. Dr. Richter was trained at the Free University of Berlin and went on to receive her scientific training as well as medical and scientific degrees (doctorate, habilitation) in the laboratory of Wolfgang Löscher at the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmacy of the School of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Germany).
Dr. Richter's research has focused particularly on animal models of neurological disorders (dystonia, dyskinesias, Parkinson’s disease, tremor, epilepsy), including preclinical pharmacological studies, phenotyping of animal models and investigations of the pathophysiology of movement disorders. Dr. Richter has published more than 100 scientific articles in the field of movement disorders and received several awards including the Oppenheim award 2008 for dystonia research.
