Azucena Perez-Canamas, PhD, is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Neurology at Yale University. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Valencia, Spain, in 2009 and then joined Maria Dolores Ledesma, PhD, in the study of neurodegenerative disease Niemann Pick type A at the Centro de Biologia Molecular Severo Ochoa in Madrid. Dr. Perez-Canamas was awarded a PhD fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Education and completed her PhD with distinction (cum laude) in 2015. She then joined the laboratory of Stephen Strittmatter, MD, PhD, in 2017 as a postdoctoral associate, where she is currently studying how alpha-synuclein spreads and damages cells and its role in Parkinson's disease.
