John Growdon received the MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania, completed training in medicine at the University of Chicago and trained in neurology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. After residency in neurology, he received a fellowship from the Committee to Combat Huntington's Disease to study neurochemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His early research in Parkinson’s disease was supported by a Cotzias fellowship from the American Parkinson Disease Association. Dr. Growdon is currently a Professor of Neurology at the Harvard Medical School and Director of the Movement Disorders Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital. His research interests center on developing biological markers for neurodegenerative diseases such as PD and Alzheimer disease.
