Professor Juan Botía is a professor of computer science and artificial intelligence at the University of Murcia (UMU), Spain (September, 2018). He also holds a position as honorary senior research fellow at the Institute of Neurology (IoN), University College London (UCL), UK (July, 2017). He has a PhD in computational science and artificial intelligence (AI) from UMU (March, 2002). His research focuses on RNA expression and the proteomics, epigenomics and metabolomics of neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease. His main interests include designing algorithms for processing ‘omics data related to neurodegeneration, applying machine learning to prediction tasks related with the prognosis and progression of neurological diseases and identifying biomarkers of prognosis for Alzheimer disease.
