Mickael Decressac, PhD, is a junior investigator at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM) in Pozzuoli, Italy. In 2012, he developed a viral vector-based model of Parkinson’s disease, which is widely used for studying the pathological mechanisms and testing protective therapies. Notably, he used this model to uncover novel mechanisms underlying the response of affected neurons to neurotrophic factors and contributed to understanding how the cellular clearance pathways are involved in the disease process. His current research is focused on understanding and modeling Parkinson’s disease as well as developing new therapeutic approaches using translational approaches.
