Mohamed A. Eldeeb, PhD

Research Associate at McGill University

Location: Montreal Canada

Dr. Mohamed Eldeeb is a senior postdoctoral fellow working in Dr Edward Fon’s research group. Dr. Eldeeb trained in chemistry and zoology at Cairo University. He obtained his PhD in biochemistry in 2017 from the University of Alberta, where he studied a pathway for protein degradation and cell-death signaling. Dr. Eldeeb is currently investigating the biochemical, molecular, structural and cellular basis of PINK1-Parkin-mediated degradation of mitochondria, a process called mitophagy. He aims to discover and understand the molecular and biochemical mechanisms that guide mitophagy decision in human cells. Dr. Eldeeb has contributed to 47 peer-reviewed articles on the topics of protein degradation, cell death, mitochondrial quality control and neurodegeneration.
