Dr. Dokholyan focuses on translational research that combines fundamental basic science and engineering with clinical applications. He has expertise in computational and experimental biophysics. His group focuses on developing the computational tools needed to model complex biological systems “across scales”, from atoms to cells, and to apply these methodologies to study the molecular underpinnings of complex human disorders, including neurodegenerative diseases, cancer and cystic fibrosis. His group has made several discoveries that led to development of pharmaceutical strategies and drugs that are currently in commercial development for treating these diseases. His work is well-received, heavily utilized and extensively cited (Google Scholar suggests an H-Index of 72, with >15,500 citations).
