Dr. Saurabh Sen was born and raised in India and is well trained on G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR) and neuroscience. He received a Masters in Biotechnology from IIT Bombay (Mumbai, India) and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Helsinki, Finland. He moved to the USA and started his postdoc at Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis. Focusing more on disease state specific research, he moved to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and engaged his time delineating the molecular mechanisms of kinase targets in Parkinson’s disease, focusing his efforts on LRRK2 and CNS drug discovery. During his research in the lab of Dr. Andrew West, he demonstrated the role of dimerization associated with the kinase activity of LRRK2. Currently, he is a senior scientist at Lucigen Corporation, with responsibilities including the assay development for neurodegenerative disorders.
