Dr. Wei-Ping Gai completed his Bachelor of Medicine in 1982 and Master of Science in Neuroanatomy in 1985 from the Hunan Medical College of China. He then undertook postgraduate studies in Australia and obtained a PhD in Neuropathology in 1996 from the Flinders University of Australia. He has been conducting research on human brain anatomy and pathology of Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases since 1990. He is currently the director of the South Australian human brain bank and a senior lecturer in human physiology at the Flinders University of Australia. His current interests are the neurobiology of neural inclusions associated with neurodegenerative diseases and alpha-synuclein.
