Parkinson’s disease shares some traits with drug-induced and vascular parkinsonisms, as well as atypical parkinsonisms, but each condition differs in how it progresses and is treated. Chris Humphrey, first diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2015 and then progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) in 2022. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband, is an avid hiker, and is on the Cure-PSP advocacy advisory committee.
Harriet Adam, a photographer and parkinsonism advocate. She was a care partner to her husband Brian, who first received a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2013 and then a diagnosis of multiple system atrophy (MSA) in 2022.
Dr. Rebecca Williamson, MD, PhD, a movement disorder and cognitive specialist as well as researcher at Penn Medicine. She’s also the director of the COPE center and a graduate of The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Edmond J. Safra Fellowship in Movement Disorders, which trains Parkinson’s clinician-researchers around the world.
