We are charting the path to a future free from Parkinson’s. Your support will get us there.

Our Research

Turbocharging Science in Pursuit of a Parkinson’s Cure

The Michael J. Fox Foundation exists to end Parkinson’s as we know it. We fund the most promising science and collaborate with leaders in the field as well as with the people who know Parkinson’s best: the ones who live with it every day.

Our Strategic Research Agenda: Four Pillars for Progress

We have identified four critical research areas that are key to achieving our goal of ending Parkinson’s. These priorities will lead the way to faster drug development and more targeted treatments.

  • Clearer Disease Diagnosis

We’re working to understand what Parkinson’s is, when it begins and how it differs by person to enable more targeted treatments.

  • Better Treatment Pipelines

We provide early funding for the most promising yet highest-risk therapies, moving them from the lab into human trials.

  • Faster Clinical Trials

We’re developing new tools to detect and measure Parkinson’s and revolutionizing how trials are run.

  • Catalyzed Communities

We harness the power of patients, families, researchers, policymakers and advocates to accelerate a cure for Parkinson’s.

A Research Ecosystem
Built for Progress

How do we get to cures? Video thumbnail.

How will we cure Parkinson’s? Since the start, our research strategy has been to find and fund the most promising research — and go all in. Today, that has become a robust and sophisticated ecosystem of scientific programs and initiatives. Real progress can be felt across the field. But we won’t be satisfied until our work is done, and a future without Parkinson’s is a reality.

Our Key Initiatives and Partnerships

We bring researchers, funders and industry partners together to deepen understanding of Parkinson’s biology and translate promising discoveries into meaningful treatments.
