Podcast: Night Fight with Parkinson’s: Acting Out Dreams, Insomnia and Other Sleep Issues (Webinar)

Sleep issues impact many people with Parkinson’s disease. In fact, some even experience sleep problems before motor symptoms begin.

In this audio from our Third Thursdays Webinar, Karen Jaffe, MD, Patient Council member at The Michael J. Fox Foundation, leads a discussion on common sleep disturbances and ways to manage them.

Brian Duggan, diagnosed with REM sleep behavior disorder in 2015, offers practical tips that have helped him and his wife safely and comfortably sleep at night. (Learn more about REM sleep behavior disorder.) Maria Cristina Ospina, MD, medical director of the Regional Parkinson Center, talks about the importance of good sleep hygiene and how medications play a role in sleep. Michele Hu, MBBS, FRCP, PhD, professor of clinical neuroscience at Oxford University, shares other strategies for good sleep — such as avoiding caffeine or exercising too late at night — while also discussing new research.
