Dr. Abid Oueslati received his PhD in neuroscience in 2008 from the University of the Mediterranean Aix-Marseille-France and Tunis El Manar University-Tunisia. He then joined the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne-Switzerland as a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Dr. Hilal A. Lashuel (2008-2014). In 2015, he moved to Canada to join Laval University as an assistant professor. Currently, Dr. Oueslati is associate professor and director of the Molecular and Cellular Neurodegeneration Laboratory at the CHU de Quebec-ULaval Research Center in Quebec City. Dr. Oueslati’s research program aims to understand the involvement of protein misfolding and aggregation in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders. More specifically, he applies an integrative approach that combines molecular, cellular and in vivo approaches to investigate the molecular determinants regulating the aggregation and the toxicity of the protein alpha-synuclein and its role in the induction and progression of Parkinson’s disease.
