Dr. Ai-Huey Tan (MD, PhD, FRCP Edin) is an Associate Professor and Consultant Neurologist/Movement Disorder Specialist at the University of Malaya. She is the past President of the Malaysian Society of Neurosciences and the past Treasurer of the ASEAN Neurological Association. Tan serves on several committees in the International Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder Society (MDS); she is the current Chair of the MDS Communications Oversight Committee and Executive Committee Member of the MDS-Asian and Oceanian Section. She is also actively involved in the MDS Evidence-based Task Forces for the treatment of motor and non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease.
Tan has published widely in the field of Movement Disorders, with a particular research interest in exploring the role of gut dysfunction and gut microbiota in neurodegenerative diseases. She is also actively involved in multiple collaborative projects on genetics of PD and related disorders. Her other research scopes include geriatric/non-motor aspects of parkinsonian disorders and the characterization of rare/orphan neurological diseases.
