Saavedra Fajardo Research Fellow at University of Murcia
Location: Murcia Spain

Ana Luisa Gil Martinez, PhD, is a senior postdoctoral researcher at the University of Murcia, Spain. In 2019, she earned a joint international PhD degree from Maastricht University and the University of Murcia, where she investigated neuroinflammation and glial activation in Parkinsonism. Then, she was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship at University College London with Prof Mina Ryten to identify molecular signatures underlying disease heterogeneity and progression in Parkinson's disease. In 2022, she joined Prof Huw Morris group at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, working in the MD-GAP study to develop a harmonized database integrating clinical, pathological and genetic data from patients with neurodegenerative diseases across more than nine UK biobanks. In 2025, she was awarded a Saavedra Fajardo Research Fellowship to develop computational and machine learning methods to uncover multimodal molecular signatures associated with neurodegenerative diseases, with the goal of improving diagnostic precision and biological understanding.
