Annette Kjær Ersbøll, PhD

Annette Kjær Ersbøll, PhD, is a Professor at the National Institute of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark, where she leads the research group in Geographical and Register‑based Epidemiology. Trained as a statistician, she has extensive expertise in epidemiology, health geographics, environmental exposures, pharmacoepidemiology, and social and spatial inequalities in health. Prof. Ersbøll has secured major independent funding and led large-scale register‑based projects on topics such as pesticides in drinking water, housing and indoor climate, and geographical disparities in access to specialized cancer treatment. She has supervised numerous postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, and students, and is an experienced teacher of epidemiology and applied statistics across degree levels. Her scientific service includes appointments as expert adviser for the European Food Safety Authority, membership of national research councils, and extensive editorial and review roles. She is the author of more than 300 peer‑reviewed publications and multiple textbook chapters.
