Bettina Debu was born in 1957. She is the mother of three children. Between 1974 and 1985 she studied both Neuroscience and Physical Education at the University of Marseille (France), where she worked with Prof. J. Massion on the coordination of posture and movement in animal models. After obtaining her PhD in Neuroscience, she joined the Institute of Neuroscience at the University of Oregon as a post-doctoral fellow, and also became the first scholar of the International Institute for Sports Sciences of that university. After six years in the United States, she returned to France and was appointed Assistant Professor in the P.E. Department of the University of Grenoble in 1993, and full professor in 1999.

Dr. Debu is a former co-chair of educational programs for the University of Grenoble. She is also a member of the teaching staff of the international Masters Degree on Adapted Physical Activity and Rehabilitation in Neurological patients in Belgium and Lebanon. Her research interests have always focussed on postural and motor control of persons of all ages, but she has devoted a large part of her research activity on the study of motor development in normal and pathological children. She joined the team of Professor Pollak in September 2005, where she contributes her competence in analysis of human movement.
