Chenjian Li is an Assistant Professor and the head of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Neurological Diseases, in the Dept. Neurology and Neuroscience, Weill Medical College of Cornell University. His laboratory is devoted to the molecular genetic understanding of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington'sdisease and Parkinson's disease. Dr. Li majored in biochemistry in Dept. Biology at Beijing University, and then medicine at Peking Union Medical College. He received his PhD from Purdue University, studying molecular genetics of vision and retinal degeneration in Drosophila system. He was trained in Dr. Bruce McEwen's lab at the Rockefeller University as a postdoctoral fellow to investigate neuronal synapse remodeling and learning/memory. Subsequently, he joined a team led by Dr. Nathaniel Heintz at Rockefeller University for the development of the BAC transgenic technology. Among the honors he received were National Research Service Award, C.H. Li Memorial award, research awards from Hereditary Disease Foundation and Dana Foundation, and funding from NIH/NINDS. He also received the National Book Award in China, for his translation of Richard Feyman's book.
