Elena Moro is a neurologist with a specific interest in surgery of movement disorders. She graduated in Medicine in Trieste (Italy) and completed her residency in neurology in Rome. She started to be involved in functional surgery for movement disorders in 1995 with Dr. A. Albanese. To develop her knowledge and interest in deep brain stimulation (DBS), Dr. Moro went to Grenoble, France, where subthalamic nucleus DBS was first developed, to complete her PhD in neuroscience. In Grenoble she undertook full training in DBS for many movement disorders. Later she moved to Milan to start and develop a surgical team for movement disorders. In 2002 Dr. Moro joined the Movement Disorders Center of the University of Toronto to develop the movement disorders surgical program with Drs. Anthony Lang and Andres Lozano.
