Since 1991 Dr. Stephen Kish has been Head of the Human Neurochemical Pathology Laboratory at the Centre For Addiction and Mental Health (Toronto, Canada) and is Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Previously he obtained a PhD in Pharmacology at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) followed by a postdoctoral fellowship with Oleh Hornykiewicz (University of Vienna). Over the past 20 years his work has focused on studies of the human brain monoamine (dopamine, serotonin, acetylcholine) neurotransmitter systems in movement disorders and in users of amphetamine drugs (methamphetamine, ecstasy) which damage brain dopamine and serotonin neurones. His studies are targeted to neurology, psychiatry, and forensic science.
