Erinc Hallacli, PhD

Assistant Professor at Max Perutz Labs, Medical University of Vienna
Tenure-track junior group leader
Location: Vienna Austria

Dr. Hallacli is a tenure-track Assistant Professor and junior group leader at the Max Perutz Labs, Medical University of Vienna, whose work integrates basic and translational molecular biology to uncover mechanisms of neurodegeneration. Trained at leading institutions including Heidelberg University, EMBL, Max Planck Institute, Whitehead Institute at MIT, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, he has developed a broad technical and conceptual toolkit spanning chromatin biology, RNA regulation, and protein misfolding. His discoveries have illuminated fundamental principles of epigenetic regulation and revealed unexpected roles for RNA-binding proteins and alpha-synuclein in mRNA homeostasis and Parkinson’s disease pathophysiology. His laboratory now focuses on the intersection of synuclein biology, mRNA regulation, and lipid membranes to identify therapeutic targets for synucleinopathies.
