Laura Ibanez, PhD

Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at Washington University in Saint Louis School of Medicine
Location: Saint Lous, MO United States

Dr. Ibanez research interests are focused on understanding the role of early proteomic and transcriptomic changes in the development, progression, and diagnostic of neurodegenerative diseases. She received a PhD in Biomedicine from the University of Barcelona, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Cruchaga at WashU. She joined the faculty at WashU in 2020 when she received her R00 award and is currently an Assistant Professor at the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as a member of the NeuroGenomics and Informatics Center and the Biomarker Core Leader for the DIAN study. She is a highly trained biologist with extensive experience combining state-of-the-art genomic, bioinformatic, and machine learning approaches to study the biology of neurodegenerative diseases. Her team has published, among other papers, the largest circular RNA meta-analysis in Parkinson’s Disease, a project supported by the MJFF.
