Luis Bonet Ponce, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University
Location: Columbus, OH United States

Luis Bonet-Ponce obtained his BS and MS degrees from the Universidad de Valencia in 2011 and 2012 respectively. He then joined the Universidad Catolica de Valencia and earned his PhD in 2015, studying the effect of ROS in selective authophagy. During his postdoctoral training at the NIH, Dr. Bonet-Ponce discovered the recruitment of LRRK2 to membrane-damaged lysosomes, which triggers a membrane tubulation and fission event. In September 2023, he established his own lab at The Ohio State University. The Bonet-Ponce lab uses molecular biology techniques, including advanced microscopy and unbiased screenings, to study the role of lysosomal dysfunction in PD.
