Prof. Martin Rabey has worked in the field of neurology for 45 years, after completing studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Buenos Aires in 1967. His sub-specialization is neurodegenerative disorders, mainly Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. He spent two years at New York University studying pre- and post-synaptic mechanisms in dopaminergic cell activation and one year at the Weizmann Institute investigating the mechanisms of activation of muscarinic receptors in pre-clinical models. Prof. Rabey was the principal investigator of several studies dealing with pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of dopamine agonists in parkinsonian patients.
Since 1973 he has directed the Movement Disorders Clinic at Ichilov Hospital. Prof. Rabey was the chairman of the Department of Neurology at Tel Aviv University from 2000 to 2003, and was chairman of the Department of Neurology from 1995 to 2013 and also director of the Movement Disorder Clinic at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. He is currently the chief medical officer of BioShai Ltd.
