Dr. Galloway earned his PhD in biochemistry from St Louis University in 1981 and after post-doctoral training in neurochemical pharmacology at Yale University School of Medicine (psychiatry), he accepted a faculty position at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit where he is currently a professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience and director of operations for the Brain Imaging Research Division. His major research interest is the regulation of dopamine neurons as it relates to the neurobiology and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, addiction, and psychiatric disorders. NIDA, NIMH, and NINDS have supported his research endeavors and he served as director of the cerebral spinal fluid assay laboratory for the DATATOP study on biomarkers in Parkinson's disease. Dr. Galloway is a regular member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and NIDA study section for training and career development.
