Nikoline Juul Nielsen, PhD

Associate professor at University of Copenhagen
Location: Frederiksberg C Denmark

Nikoline Juul Nielsen, PhD, is an Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry (AC) at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), specializing in advanced non‑target and suspect screening of complex biological and environmental samples. Her research focuses on high‑resolution mass spectrometry (MS) and chromatographic separations to generate comprehensive chemical fingerprints and improve compound identification in untargeted studies, including exposome research. In human biomonitoring applications, she has identified diverse classes of exposure‑related chemicals in urine, including PFAS, phytoestrogens, PAHs, phthalates, benzophenones, parabens, bisphenols, and pharmaceuticals. Her work aims to advance highly resolving analytical strategies and develop chemometric workflows for sample comparison and unknown identification. Dr Nielsen is Head of Studies for the MSc program in Environmental Science and co‑founder of the MSc specialization in Analytical Chemistry at UCPH. She plays an active role in research leadership through the AC Group at UCPH, has supervised multiple PhD and MSc-students and teaches courses in chromatography and MS.
