Dr. Lee received his B.S. degree at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Life Science at Pohang University of Science and Technology, Pohang, Korea. He did his initial post-doctoral training at the Laboratory of Molecular Cardiology at NHLBI, NIH, Bethesda, MD, and a second post-doctoral at the Center for Neurologic Diseases in Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, where he subsequently became an instructor in Neurology. He started his laboratory as a Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Research Scientist at the Parkinson's Institute, Sunnyvale, CA, in July 2000 to study the role of protein misfolding and aggregation in neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease and related disorders. He was a recipient of the NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship from Fogarty International Center. His research has been supported by the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the Abramson Family Foundation, US Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, and Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson's research.
