Dr. Hunot received his PhD in cell biology and physiology in 1998 (Pierre et Marie Curie University, Paris) and completed a 3-year postdoctoral training in molecular biology at Yale School of Medicine (laboratory of Pr. Richard Flavell, Immunobiology Dept.) In 2001, he joined the French Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) after being tenured as a CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) research associate. He is a member of several professional societies and serves on the scientific advisory board for the France Parkinson Association and for the French Club of Neuroimmunology. His current research interest focuses on the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease with emphasis on cell and non cell autonomous mechanisms of neuronal cell death. Through a collaborative network established with several immunologists, he has established in his lab a new disciplinary program looking at the interplay between the immune and nervous systems in Parkinson's disease.
