Thomas Montine received a BA in chemistry from Columbia University, a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Rochester and an MD and CM from McGill University. Dr. Montine was director of the University of Washington Alzheimer's Disease Research Center from 2012 to 2016 and is the founding director of the Pacific Udall Center. In May 2016, Dr. Montine was appointed Stanford Medicine Endowed Professor in Pathology and chair of the department of pathology at Stanford University Dr. Montine's research focuses on the structural and molecular bases of cognitive impairment that occur with advancing age, and how these processes promote Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. His goal is to define key pathogenic steps through fundamental and clinical research, and thereby identify new therapeutic targets to protect cognition.
