Charalampos Tzoulis is Professor of Neurology and Neurogenetics at the University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway. He is Co-Director of the Neuro-SysMed Center of Excellence for Clinical Neurological Research (https://neuro-sysmed.no/), where he leads the neurodegeneration program, and Director of the K.G. Jebsen Center for Parkinson's disease (https://www.uib.no/en/parkinsonsdisease). His research group (www.decode-pd.org) comprises over 40 members of different specialties across the spectrum of translational and clinical research, and focuses on developing and testing new biomarkers and treatments for Parkinson's disease and related disorders. Prof. Tzoulis’ work has led to significant scientific advancements, particularly in understanding the role of mitochondrial dysfunction and NAD metabolism in Parkinson's disease. He currently leads multicenter clinical trials, including a multi-arm multi-stage (MAMS) platform enabling parallel testing of multiple potential disease-modifying compounds.
