Dr. Chuantao Jiang was trained as a neurosurgeon in China after graduating from medical school. Motivated by a desire to pursue effective treatments for Parkinson’s disease (PD), he was trained in the Neuroscience field in Beijing Institute of Neuroscience where he received his PhD in 2002. When Dr. Jiang first came to the United States, he worked in the Parkinson’s disease Center at Baylor College of Medicine under the supervision of Drs. Joseph Jankovic and Wei-dong Le.
Dr. Jiang did a systematic and pioneering study characterizing a novel PD mouse model (Nurr1 knock-out mouse) and was the first to show that this mouse model showed age-dependent dopaminergic dysfunction. Together, Dr. Jiang has over 10 years of extensive and relevant experience researching PD using a variety of pre-clinical models and has published eight PD related peer review articles.
Currently, Dr. Jiang is actively involved in mouse immunization studies to treat neurodegenerative disorders.
