Geneviève Olivier is a PhD-trained movement scientist and physical therapist serving as an assistant professor (clinical) at the University of Utah. With her background in clinical neurology and physical therapy, she maintains an active clinical practice with an emphasis on treating people with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Her research experience and expertise relate primarily to examining motor learning, postural control and rehabilitation in people with and without balance, gait and postural deficits, including individuals with PD. Early in her career, she developed a novel task and paradigm for studying postural motor learning that was shown to be both feasible and effective. Using that task, she applied nonlinear mathematical methods as a novel way to model motor skill acquisition data in people with PD. As a member of the SPARX3 study team, she is currently investigating the disease-modifying effects of moderate- and vigorous-intensity treadmill walking exercise on PD.
