Hervé Blottière, PhD

Research Director First Class at INRAE, French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment

Location: Jouy en Josas France

Hervé Blottière obtained a PhD in tumor immunology from the University of Nantes (France) in 1989 and spent two years as visiting scientist in the lab of Prof. Hilary Koprowski at the Wistar Institute (Philadelphia). Initially recruited as principal investigator at Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA, now INRAE) in Nantes, he moved to Jouy-en-Josas as research director in 2002 to study human gut microbiota. Dr. Blottière presently heads a research laboratory at INRAE and is one of the scientific directors at MetaGenoPolis. His goal is to provide a better understanding of the symbiosis between gut microbiota and host tissues in health and diseases and to decipher the molecular mechanisms of interaction between intestinal bacteria and human cells. Finding these molecular mediators will provide targets for therapeutics that can restore symbiosis in chronic diseases. He has more than 110 peer-reviewed publications with a H-index of 37 (WoS).
