Jean Nakamura, MD

Dr. Jean Nakamura is a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). A board-certified radiation oncologist, she specializes in the treatment of patients with brain tumors.  Dr. Nakamura leads a research program that develops pre-clinical models, analyzes patient biospecimens and conducts translational and clinical research to investigate tumor metabolism and normal tissue toxicity after cancer therapy.  Her research integrates metabolomics, genetics and novel imaging approaches to develop strategies that improve patient survival and cognitive function.  Her translational and clinical research focuses on biomarker development to evaluate cognitive resilience and predict susceptibility to cognitive dysfunction after exogenous and environmental stressors.
