Xiao-Hong Zhu, PhD, BA

Professor at The University of Minnesota
Location: Minneapolis, MN United States

Dr. Xiao-Hong Zhu is a professor in the Radiology Department at the University of Minnesota UMN. She received her BS and PhD degrees in Chemistry in 1985 and 1991, respectively, and postdoctoral training in in vivo MRS/MRI before joining the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) at UMN in 1994. Her research has been focused on developing and applying X-nuclear (31P, 17O and 2H) based molecular MR imaging (mMRI) methodologies to quantitatively study cerebral energy, oxygen and glucose metabolism in animal models, healthy human and patients with neurological diseases. Using 31P-based mMRI at 7T, she has evaluated altered neuroenergetics and NAD redox in the brains of PD patients, which is highly relevant to the proposed work in this project.
