Kenneth Baker is an associate staff member in neurosciences at the Lerner Research Institute, with a secondary appointment in the Center for Neurological Restoration at the Neurological Institute of the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Baker earned his PhD at the University of Arizona, followed by a fellowship in movement disorders research in the neurology department at the Cleveland Clinic. His primary research interests revolve around the mechanisms and application of neurostimulation-based approaches to treating neurologic and psychiatric disease, with a particular emphasis on the use of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and brain injury. Current projects in his lab include 1) developing and testing novel DBS paradigms to enhance therapeutic outcomes in PD; 2) identifying surrogate biomarkers to optimize DBS programming in PD; and 3) deep stimulation of the cerebellum to enhance motor and cognitive rehabilitation following stroke and traumatic brain injury.
